Mississippi Office of Housing Requests Workforce Housing Proposals

On September 25, 2007, the State of Mississippi's Office of Housing published a request for proposals to create workforce housing for the gulf coast region of Mississippi.

In order to address an urgent need for workforce housing within the state, the Office of Housing will be accepting proposals from qualified individuals, nonprofit and for-profit entities to develop long term plans for development in the region.  In the attached RFP, the Office of Housing notes it has receive approximately $5.5 billion in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds designated for expenses related to disaster relief and long-term recovery and restoration of areas impacted by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.  The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) anticipates directing a portion of that allocation to the development of affordable workforce hosuing.

Written proposals should be submitted by November 2, 2007 to the Mississippi Development Authority.  Please see the attached RFP for detailed requirements for proposals as well as other useful information.
