Senators Encourage Inclusion of Housing Credit Provisions in Housing Stimulus Package

On June 16, 2008, fourteen Senators submitted the below-linked letter to Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R-IA) encouraging inclusion of Housing Credit provisions in the final Housing Stimulus Package being debated in the Senate this week.
The letter notes provisions similar to those found in Senate bill S. 2666, the Affordable Housing Investment Act, are currently included in the House-passed version of H.R. 3221. The letter states these proposals are "long overdue and critically needed now to respond to today's serious housing challenges."
The letter is signed by Senators Cantwell (D-WA), Smith (R-OR), Hatch (R-UT), Kerry (D-MA), Bingaman (D-NM), Snowe (R-ME), Schumer (D-NY), Salazar (D-CO), Wyden (D-OR), Boxer (D-CA), Cardin (D-MD), Kohl (D-WI), Lieberman (I-CT), and Collins (R-ME).
